Vincent Facchiano, OD, FAAO

A native of the Rockford, Illinois area, Dr. Facciano earned his bachelor’s degree at Northern Illinois University. He earned his Doctor of Optometry Degree in 1982, graduating from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He is among the top percent of optometrists in the U.S. & Canada, achieving fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry and is board certified, a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and Contact Lens Society, Northern Illinois Optometric Society President (current), and Wisconsin Optometric Association. He has authored practice management articles and researched new materials for soft contact lenses. He has also worked for Wesley-Jessen, a pioneer contact lens company, to obtain FDA approval on their first soft lens.

He is the third generation of Optometrists from his family to practice in the Northern Illinois area. He is married and is the father of two boys, age 32 & 37.

He has been involved in private practice, a subleased office within Lenscrafters in Cherryvale Mall, and co-owner of two franchised Pearle Vision locations in Madison & Brookfield, Wisconsin, for over 33 years. Through his optometric career, Dr has been involved in seven Optometric practices. Established a medical and optometric eye care center partnership and operated a neighborhood eyewear dispensary. He has worked in a variety of clinical settings, both corporate and medical. Dr. Facchiano has been specializing in contact lenses and full scope primary eye care. He also has an interest in orthokeratology and fits prosthetic eyes.

Dr. Facchiano is also the president of Vincent Inv. Property, LLC, which holds real estate investments and a condominium community. The company has resort property and holdings in three states. VIP, LLC has built and currently manages 50 units of apartments and upscale luxury condominiums. This company contributes to Habitat for Humanity both in the local community & in Florida. Currently, VIP, LLC interests have been concentrating on the development of a senior and assisted living center.

Dr. Facchiano is the recipient of several awards, among which the Gold Key Award, Lenscrafters Quality Service Awards and Horizon Club Awards recognized him for outstanding leadership and service.

The doctor actively serves his community through a variety of charitable groups. He is a founder of Lions – Sight First - International Health Gifts. He has been active in many local service clubs and is a past president of the Belvidere Jaycees, Belvidere Lions, and active member of Alpine Kiwanis Club. He was twice on the Lenscrafters Optometric Advisory Council and currently on the Pearle Vision Franchise Advisory Council.

An aviator and commercial pilot, he donated his time flying those in medical need for Lifeline Pilots. He also serves with the AOA keeping aviators informed about Optometric eye care at the world acclaimed Experimental Aircraft Aviation each year in Wisconsin.

He has been serving as Optometrist in-state charitable organizations providing eye care to patients in impoverished countries and has traveled to around the world on eye care missions with Gift of Sight foundation & VOSH. He has independently established and equipped an eye care clinic in Mao City, Dominican Republic, in 2004. He has also provided the local Mao City Lions with a desperately needed ambulance to serve their community. Dr has donated both his time and resources to local eyecare Gift of Sight programs as well as treating inner-city children through the One Sight/Gift of Sight Vision Van Programs and in Wisconsin State Optometric Associations outreach community clinics.

Nikil Patel, OD

Dr. Nikil Patel is a certified optometrist through the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. His academic accomplishments include a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Indiana University, followed by obtaining a Doctor of Optometry degree through the prestigious Indiana University School of Optometry. Dr. Patel’s intense and thorough training has included time spent at institutions such as Aran Eye Associates (Miami, FL), Guanajuato Eye Clinic (Guanajuato, Mexico), Lackland Air Force Base (San Antonio, TX) and LASIK Vision Institute (Atlanta, GA).

Dr. Patel has been living and practicing in the Atlanta area since 2004. Dr. Patel has a particular interest and expertise in fitting specialty contact lenses such as multifocal and astigmatism correcting lenses and corneal reshaping lenses that can eliminate the need for glasses or contacts during the day. He has managed and treated thousands of patients with ocular diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy, among many others. He also specializes in treating patients that have undergone LASIK and cataract surgery. Since 2010, Dr. Patel has been fitting patients with specialty lenses like orthokeratology.

Dr. Patel is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, Greater Atlanta Optometric Association as well as the Beta Sigma Kappa National Optometric Honor Society. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Energeyes Association. He is a certified practitioner of the Paragon CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) and also a Certified WAVE Contact Lens Designer. Dr. Patel enjoys and feels it is crucial to volunteer his services to those who are less fortunate. He has participated in the following programs – Georgia Lions Lighthouse, Luxottica’s Gift of Sight and One Sight, Essilor’s Kids Vision for Life, and World Sight Day. Dr. Patel had the esteemed honor to be selected to the inaugural Advisory Board for the Dry Eye Centers of America.

Outside of the office, Dr. Patel enjoys sports, spending time with his wife, Shivani, and two children, Ishan and Zara.

Melonie Clemmons, OD

Dr. Melonie Lynn Clemmons, OD, is an Optometry specialist in Blue Ridge, Georgia. She attended and graduated from Southern College Of Optometry in 1996, having over 23 years of diverse experience, especially in Optometry. She is affiliated with many hospitals, including Piedmont Mountainside Hospital Inc. Dr. Melonie Lynn Clemmons also cooperates with other doctors and physicians in medical groups, including Jumpstart Fitness. She is dedicated to creating a professional, pleasant office environment in which outstanding customer/patient satisfaction is a top priority. Diligent in providing excellent eye care while utilizing the newest technology, advanced instrumentation, and nutrition. D. Clemmons is committed to implementing a strong focus on patient recall and practice building strategies to generate a highly loyal customer/patient base. She is passionate about sharing knowledge with colleagues and educating patients. She has received several awards an honors including American Association for Corporate Optometrists Member of the Year, 2018, Beacon of Hope Award by Georgia’s Light House, for work in providing eye care to the underinsured; 2013 Appreciation Award by Women of Domestic Violence, For providing courtesy eye care; Dedicated to Serving Award by The Hope House, 2004-2011 and Walmart Optometrist of the Year for Atlanta Region, 2010. She is also a Media Spokesperson for Transition Lenses, being selected from 90 candidates. She has performed 18 interviews with over 16 million listeners on primetime morning affiliate ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX TV stations as well as live radio out of New York, NY. Focus on educating the public on the dangers of sun exposure related to the eye and the roll that Transitions play to help prevent ocular disease.

Michael Slusky, OD, FAAO

Dr. Michael A. Slusky is a Schaumburg, Illinois based Optometrist. He completed pre-professional undergraduate education in a college or university and four years of professional education at a college of optometry, leading to the doctor of optometry (O.D.) degree. Dr. Slusky is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry (ABO). The ABO board certification is a process that allows doctors of optometry to demonstrate that they exceed entry-level requirements and are maintaining the appropriate knowledge, skills, and experience to deliver quality eye care. He is also a 2016 Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, Professionals who become Fellows of the Academy must complete a rigorous candidacy process. Candidates submit extensive written work and must also pass an oral examination. A panel of leading optometrists and vision scientists must approve both the written work and oral examination. Fewer than 10% of practicing optometrists are Fellows of the Academy. Dr. Slusky graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, PA’s Chief Executive Optometrist Program in 2006.

Why he supports the AACO mission: Dr. Slusky wishes to learn, and bring valuable contributions to the AACO through his years of working side by side with industry, students, and fellow peers. He supports the mission of AACO by listening to his peers and their organizational needs. He believes that as an optometrist, He must support both patients and fellow optometrists to be knowledgeable and ensure the early detection and prevention of sight-threatening conditions. Enhancing the quality of life through a clear vision is one of the most humbling aspects of being an optometrist.

Nils Ohlsen, OD

Dr. Nils Ohlsen, OD, is an optometrist in Spokane, WA, and has been practicing for 19 years. He graduated from Indiana University / Bloomington / School Of Optometry in 2000 and specialized in optometry, cornea & external diseases. He is a Prior board member of Energeyes. Prior board member and officer of Redeemer Lutheran Church and Spokane Valley Rotary Club. Volunteer O.D. at Union Gospel Mission in Spokane. Several trips to Honduras to provide care at His Eyes clinic in Tegucigalpa.

Drew Provost, OD

Dr. Provost is a Clinic director and optometrist at a multi-location corporate-affiliated optometry practice. His interests include patient-centric eye care, exam efficiency through technology, practice branding, and team building. Dr. Provost believes in a patient-focused experience. He enjoys collaborating with other optometrists on practice management and ways to thrive in the fast-changing eye care space.
